Three and a half weeks

The puppies are thriving.  They have opened their eyes and started to waddle around.  Today they began their first solid feed as the weaning process begins.  Mum will still feed them until approximately six weeks but she cannot sustain eleven growing puppies on her milk alone.

They were a little confused at first.  They could smell something delicious but weren't sure how to get it into their wee mouths.  Some walked right through the food, others licked at the edges of the bowl, but eventually most seemed to work things out. I'm grateful that Petra is great at cleaning up their messy feet, and fur after their meal.

The next big challenge was to learn to walk up the ramp to their bed.  Some sat at the bottom of the ramp and howled, others decided to try  the ramp.  With a little help each one managed to wobble their way back to their bed and promptly settled down in a growing pile of puppies, burrowing their way into the pile until they felt secure and ready to sleep off their extra meal.
