Tail docking

The puppies are starting to romp with each other, wrestling and rolling as they play.  Their wee tails are wagging now which is so cute.  I saw a post today suggesting that tail docking of dogs is cruel.  I met a lady last weekend who wished her Vizsla 's tail had been docked.  Her two pre-schoolers bore the whip of the wag right across their faces, which was not the dogs fault.  She also said her dogs tail split and bled constantly from whipping things and in her opinion it was cruel for the dog to constantly have a damaged tail.  She has tried to get the tip removed but most vets will no longer do it and the one vet who would wanted over $1000. We also experienced this with our first dog which was a mixed gun dog breed and undocked.  Our preschool children's faces occsionally had a red welt across their cheek and even wearing Jeans did not stop the sting of the wag.  We use NZKC accredited dockers and have to follow extremely strict guidelines.

Three of the collars had to change colour as they were starting to come loose.  We ordered more so we can return them to their original colours and avoid confusion.  The changes were: BLACK - SKY BLUE;  DARK BROWN- LIME GREEN and BLUE TO TAN.  Tomorrow they will return to their original colours again.
