Today was a full day of puppy testing. Temperament, social skills, human interaction, and structure. The next task is to fit the puppy with the best home according to the puppy's personality and the new owner's preferences.

Six weeks of busyness
Our beautiful golden babies are now six weeks old. It's been busy with Kuini needing an emergency vet callout due to a teat issue that seems to be healing nicely.
Earlier in the week the puppies had a wee nail clip, worm tablets (given every two weeks), and today the vet visited for puppy's first vaccinations.

Three weeks the Masolat litter
The puppies are now three weeks old and have been eating solids for a week. Some are noisy feeders and sound like they love their food. They are walking about and finding their voices, wagging their tails and eating and sleeping. Puppy piles are their favourite way to sleep.

Day 10
Unfortunately, despite doing all we could, we lost Miss Light Blue. The other pups are thriving and today we see some have their eyes opening revealing a gorgeous deep blue colour. We will get a photo in the next couple of days. Kuini continues to be the perfect Mum and the pups are putting on incredible weights each day.

Vet saves Miss Blue
Much can change, and quickly. Little Miss blue seemed more sleepy yesterday and within an hour had become too cold to want to feed well. We called the vet and he administered some fluids into her abdomen. I had milked Kuini, who is such a marvelous mumma and is extremely patient. I bottle fed Miss Blue drop by drop once she warmed up under a lamp, and she was much more active. Pups are weighed daily to see if anyone is falling behind. I am topping up the four smallest pups every three hours - reminds me of those past days of our own newborn babies.
Monday 31 May 2021
SO much has happened in our world in the past 18 months. It is with great excitement that we have another lot of puppies on the ground. We had a final litter with Petra in January and things did not go well. We are glad Petra recovered so well.
We decided we wanted to have a puppy from the same parents as Kuini's last litter. We have watched these pups grow up to not only look great but to be fantastic early hunters. We have had nothing but high praise from the owners and wished we had kept one ourselves as dear Petra is slowing down and finding the hunting a bit more tiring - but DON'T try to leave her behind! She gets so excited if she thinks there is a chance to hunt. There is also no chance with these Vizsla's that you can't teach an old dog new tricks as Petra began pheasant hunting recently and has excelled in her ability to point, flush and retrieve!
